Sun Vault Roofing has been named a recipient of the 2026 BBB Spark Award for Entrepreneurship by the Better Business Bureau serving Wisconsin. The award recognizes emerging businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to ethics, trust, and community impact.
For a Madison-based roofing company focused on roof replacement, roof repair, and solar roofing systems, the recognition reflects something we’ve believed from the beginning: how you do the work matters just as much as the work itself.
Sun Vault Roofing is proud to be recognized alongside two other outstanding Wisconsin businesses: Verona Bounce, a Verona-based party rental company bringing joy to local events and celebrations, and Taylored4All, a purpose-driven business committed to inclusion and community. All three companies were selected from an independent review process evaluating ethics, character, and community impact. Notably, Verona Bounce and Sun Vault Roofing are both members of the Verona Chamber of Commerce.
Why We Started Sun Vault Roofing
We started Sun Vault Roofing because the roofing and solar industries felt broken.
With the rise of private equity in roofing, predatory, transient salespeople are common, and there is a lot of overselling.
“We wanted to fix that,” said Jon Torre, owner of Sun Vault Roofing.
Too often, homeowners are left navigating confusing recommendations, unclear and ever-changing solar incentives, and systems that weren’t designed to work together. Our goal was to build something simpler: one team, one system, and one place to go if something goes wrong.

For us, ethics isn’t abstract. It shows up in very practical ways.
“For us, ethics means telling people when they don’t need to hire us,” Torre said.
"In industries known for pushy sales tactics, we regularly tell homeowners when solar isn’t a fit for their home, or when their roof still has years of life left. That’s not always the fastest path to a sale, but it’s the right one if you’re trying to build long-term trust in a community like Madison and across southern Wisconsin."

Instead of defaulting to full roof replacement or pushing upgrades, we take the time to evaluate:
whether solar makes sense for the property
